(Victor Wembanyama)
(De’Aaron Fox)
(Stephon Castle)
(Julian Champagnie)
(Harrison Barnes)
(Keldon Johnson)
(Devin Vassell)
(Luke Kornet)
(Dylan Harper)
评分:A-
(Carter Bryant)
评分:A-
(Mitch Johnson)

Grades: San Antonio Spurs vs. New Orleans Pelicans – Game #46
In what was a game of runs, the San Antonio Spurs ultimately lost to the New Orleans Pelicans by a final score of 104-95. This disappointing home loss dropped San Antonio’s record on the season to 31-15, while the Pelicans improved to 12-36.
The Spurs found themselves down 20 points to the Pelicans before battling back in the fourth quarter. To begin the fourth, S.A. went on a 24-5 to take a five-point lead. Sadly, New Orleans finished off their win by scoring 17 of the game’s final 20 points.
Stats: Spurs vs. Pelicans

Spurs vs. Pelicans – Final Grades
Victor Wembanyama
The good: Wembanyama was 4-for-6 from two-point range, corralled 16 rebounds and blocked four shots. When he was being forceful on the inside, the Frenchman was having success on both ends of the court. The bad: Wembanyama wasn’t being forceful often enough on this night. To make matters worse, he was only 2-for-10 on three-pointers and 2-for-6 at the free throw line. He also failed to record an assist in 31 minutes of play. Overall: Wembanyama needs to play a sturdier, more focused brand of basketball for the Spurs to have consistent success.
Grade: C-
De’Aaron Fox
This was another game where Fox’s lack of aggression doomed San Antonio. He hit 3-of-5 three-pointers but only attempted three two-pointers and was 1-for-4 at the charity stripe. Fox didn’t have his foot on the gas for enough minutes. To add to the negatives, he also had four turnovers. Fox’s passing was good (seven assists) but the Spurs needed more oomph on both ends.
Grade: C-
Stephon Castle
Castle was pretty darn bad. He had a dunk one minute into the game and then never made another field goal. He finished with just five points in 29 minutes. There was nothing special about his playmaking or his defense. Castle played like he was tired — both physically and mentally.
Grade: D
Julian Champagnie
Champagnie was just 1-for-7 from three-point territory. To his credit, he found other ways to help. He hit both of his shots inside of the arc and was 6-for-6 at the line. He also grabbed a couple contested boards and played acceptable defense.
Grade: C+
Harrison Barnes
Barnes still hasn’t found his way out of the doldrums. He chipped in only five points in his 19 minutes to go along with one rebound. His ball-movement and decision-making on the perimeter was pretty good but add in sub par defense and this was another disappointing night at the office.
Grade: C
Keldon Johnson
The good: Johnson was 5-for-7 inside of the arc and didn’t turn the ball over in 28 minutes. There were a few times where his enthusiasm single-handedly kept the Spurs afloat. The bad: Johnson was 1-for-5 from deep and 2-for-4 at the line. He also underperformed on the glass (two rebounds) and his defense left a lot to be desired.
Grade: B-
Devin Vassell
In his return from injury, Vassell gave the Spurs some life. His shotmaking ability was apparent on his way to 13 points in 25 minutes. Unfortunately, Vassell’s efficiency was lacking and his shot-selection was iffy. Defensively, he was decent at times but he still has work to do to get back into shape on that end.
Grade: B-
Luke Kornet
While his stats don’t jump off the page, Kornet’s ruggedness and smarts helped the Spurs on this night. He was super active on the offensive glass, ran the court with purpose and played heady defense. Kornet gave the Spurs a chance to win this game with his effort and intangibles.
Grade: B+
Dylan Harper
Harper missed a couple shots he could have made but I was pretty pleased with his play. He was great on the boards, passed the ball really well and gave the offense a dose of adrenaline when he was on the court. I also thought his defense was really good. All in all, Harper definitely should have played more than 17 minutes.
Grade: A-
Carter Bryant
When the Spurs appeared to be dead in the water, Bryant entered the game and gave the good guys life. He hit a pair of three-pointers and was flying around on the defensive end. This was a good example of how Bryant can help the team going forward.
Grade: A-
Mitch Johnson
Johnson deserves credit for helping the Spurs dig their way out of their hole. He pushed a lot of right buttons. Regrettably, he pushed too many wrong buttons down the stretch. Most notably, it was pretty clear that Harper should have been on the court instead of Castle.
