HOUSTON — Devin Vassell missed his 12th consecutive game Tuesday with an injured groin.
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said before the 111-106 loss to the Rockets that the forward’s rehab has progressed to the point where he’s “doing some light stuff on the court.”
“He’s at the stage now where he’s probably through the medical minutia that I don’t really understand,” Johnson said. “And now he’s on the court, and he had a good day today. (The question now is), how does he respond or react after that? And we have to continue to build that up and give him obviously more than one or two of those (workouts) to make sure he’s ready for an NBA game, but he’s doing really well.”
The Spurs are 7-5 without Vassell, who was averaging 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists this season while shooting nearly 38% from 3-point range on 7.0 attempts per game.
