“He’s been doing a great job,” Johnson said of the fifth-year pro’s rehab. “He’s been putting in a lot of work. It is definitely trending in the right way. So, I would say sometime on this homestand is the hope.”
A fourth-year pro, Vassell finished last season second on the team in scoring with a career-best 19.5 per-game average.
“In this league, that is nothing to sneeze at,” Johnson said of Vassell’s offensive production. “There is probably a level of scoring, a level of shot-making, shooting, that the other team would have him pretty early on their scouting report. So, any time you get a guy like that, it helps everybody.”
