Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox named to Emirates NBA Cup All-Tournament team
Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox earned a spot on the 2025 Emirates NBA Cup All-Tournament team after helping the Spurs reach the championship game in Las Vegas and post a 5-2 record in the tourney.
Fox appeared in six Cup games and posted team-high per-game averages of 22.3 points, 7.7 assists and 2 steals. He also averaged 3.2 rebounds and shot 39.5% from 3-point range and 84% from the free throw line.
With Victor Wembanyama sidelined with a calf injury, Fox scored 20 points in the road win over the Los Angeles Lakers last Wednesday night in the quarterfinals, which earned the Spurs a trip to Las Vegas. He also had 22 points in the win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night to reach the final.
Fox is joined on the all-tournament team by the New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Dončić, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns.
Fox’s strong tournament play is part of a season he has described as the “most efficient” of his career, which he credited to being surrounded by so many talented teammates. He enters Thursday night’s home game against Washington averaging nearly 24.0 points per game while shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc and 84% from the foul line, both career highs.
“It’s not like I just got better overnight,” Fox said. “They make the game so much easier for me. Obviously, there are times where I do have to create a shot for myself, and we all know I’m fully capable of doing that. But being able to play off them, the game comes a little easier.”
