Jeremy Sochan could return to action in the Spurs’ upcoming road trip

NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Utah Jazz

Tre Jones told reporters that he expects everyone to be available either against the Kings or the Suns.

The Spurs might finally be getting close to being fully healthy. On his media availability after practice, Tre Jones said he thinks the Silver and Black will have everyone available in the upcoming two-game road trip that will have them facing the Kings on Dec, 1 and the Suns on Dec. 3:

“I think we’re gonna have our full team, finally, in (Sacramento). Or at least in Phoenix, hopefully. So, hopefully, you know, when we are back to 100% we can stay that way for a while.”

Jones didn’t confirm anything but with Devin Vassell back, the team has only been missing Jeremy Sochan, and there has been good news about him. Coach Mitch Johnson said that he was ahead of schedule, according to SAEN’s Tom Orsborn, who also reported on Nov. 27 that Sochan’s return could come “within days.” Now we know the versatile forward went through 5-on-5 workouts on the Spurs’ Friday practice and, according to Jones, he “looked like himself.” The floor general went on to say “(Sochan) will be ready. I doubt he’ll really be rusty at all.”

Sochan suffered a fractured left thumb against the Clippers on Nov. 4 and had to undergo surgery. Early estimates based on players who went through similar injuries and treatment suggested he’d be out until mid-December at the earliest, but it seems like he could be returning sooner than expected. Having him back would be a boon for a Spurs team that has done great in his absence but could still use his hustle, defense, and versatility.

“We definitely miss his offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding,” Jones said, before praising Sochan’s defense. “He gives us some things that some other guys just really — you really don’t find in the entire NBA. We’ll definitely be happy to have him back.”

Sochan was having a career year before his injury, averaging 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and three assists per game. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off and be the reinforcement the team needs to continue winning and staying in the playoff hunt.
