3. Fox’s day of redemption
Fox followed one of his worst performances of the playoffs with one of his best. In Game 1, Fox went 3 of 13 from the field for seven points, with two of his field goals coming on uncontested layups.
He was much better Friday, and especially down the stretch.
Fox, who finished with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, helped get the Spurs’ fourth-quarter comeback started with a 3-pointer and a layup to carve the deficit to single digits with under five minutes to play.
He followed with a drive and lob to Wembanyama that pulled the Spurs within 100-99 with 2:28 to go.
On the Spurs’ final possession, Johnson put the ball in Fox’s hands and trusted the veteran point guard to make the right play in a two-man situation with Wembanyama. He did.
