This is more of the same old story; great team led by an superstar is the beneficiary of terrible officiating. To buy into this you have to believe that referees throughout the league are either complicit in granting special rights or are just incompetent in calling the games. As if there is a conspiracy amongst them or they are just individuals who are all deficient in seeing and calling the game. So the NBA does not look into such objections and watch tapes and pass on these observations to officials?
It just doesn’t add up. Take tonight. The Thunder wins by 15. Both teams shot 33 FTs. The Thunder hit 28; the Spurs 27. 1 point to OKC. OKC put up 81 shots and hit 39; SAS 80 and made 34. OKC went 17 for 38 on 3s; SAS 13 of 41. These stats point out how very close these 2 teams were. The Thunder just outright shot better. Period.
SGA didn’t even attempt a FT until midway through the 3rd Qtr.
