As the San Antonio Spurs were preparing to open the season, star center Victor Wembanyama set a goal of achieving a top-six seed, which would mark another strong step for a young core continuing to build.
Instead, the Spurs blew past expectations, surging to a 62-win season, the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
