Excitement grows as Spurs closer to learning opponent in NBA playoffs
The Spurs’ first-round playoff picture became a bit clearer Wednesday night.
With Oklahoma City’s win over the Clippers in Los Angeles, the Spurs will be the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs beginning next weekend.
The Spurs will know their first-round opponent after next Tuesday night’s play-in game between No. 7 Phoenix and the No. 8 team (either Portland or the Clippers).
No matter the opponent, the Spurs are ready for their first postseason tournament since they lost to Denver in seven games in the first round in 2019.
“It’s an exciting time and you can feel it,” forward Devin Vassell said after recording 14 points and eight rebounds in Wednesday night’s 112-101 win over Portland. “The fans are ready. The organization’s ready. We’re ready. I’m just excited for us to get it going.”
