What Spurs’ Mason Plumlee said about finally being ready to play

San Antonio Spurs center Mason Plumlee watches his new teammates take on the LA Clippers at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Friday, March 6, 2026.
Center Mason Plumlee said he expects the Spurs to upgrade his status from questionable to available for Tuesday night’s game against Boston.
Plumlee has been inactive since the Spurs initially signed him to a 10-day contract on Feb. 17. He received a deal for the remainder of the season on Feb. 27.
A 13-year veteran, the 7-foot Plumlee is expected to provide experienced depth to the Spurs’ frontcourt, but the club decided to bring him along slowly after he underwent groin surgery on Dec. 31 while with Charlotte.
“My body feels great,” he said after shootaround Tuesday morning. “(The Spurs) have had a good plan to get me back to playing shape, and I’m ready to go.”

Plumlee said he’s eager to get on the court with his new team.
“It’s an unselfish group and has all the characteristics of teams I enjoy playing on,” he said. “I’m really excited to get out there with these guys.”
Plumlee said the “sky is the limit” for a team that entered the Boston game 47-17 after having won 15 of its last 16 games.
“The last couple of weeks presented a lot of different challenges in terms of personnel, matchups, schedule, whatever, and this group’s met the challenge each time,” Plumlee said. “So, yeah, like I said, the talent, the depth, the youth — in a good way — I still believe big things (are ahead) for this group.”
