(Victor Wembanyama)
评分:A-
(De’Aaron Fox)
(Stephon Castle)
(Devin Vassell)
(Julian Champagnie)
(Dylan Harper)
评分:A-
(Harrison Barnes)
(Keldon Johnson)
(Luke Kornet)
(Carter Bryant)
(Mitch Johnson)

Grades: San Antonio Spurs vs. Sacramento Kings – Game #56
The San Antonio Spurs improved to 40-16 by defeating the lowly Sacramento Kings by a final score of 139-122. This game was actually close until the Spurs gained traction late in the third quarter and into the final stanza. While San Antonio didn’t play especially great basketball, they did enough to run their winning streak to eight games with relative ease.
Stats: Spurs vs. Kings

Spurs vs. Kings – Final Grades
Victor Wembanyama
Wembanyama stuffed the statsheet despite playing less than 30 minutes. He finished the game with 28 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and four blocks, while turning it over once and hitting better than half his shots from the field. Wembanyama didn’t shoot the straightest but otherwise it’s difficult to find a flaw in his performance. Defensively, he was a monster in the paint and hustled relentlessly. Offensively, Wembanyama made smart decisions and attacked. All in all, the Frenchman is playing at an extremely high level right now.
Grade: A-
De’Aaron Fox
It was another solid outing for Fox. His only blemish was his total of five turnovers. Other than that, Fox successfully made his former team miss him. He had an easy 18 points while shooting well and barely breaking a sweat. He also played pretty good defense and wisely pushed the pace.
Grade: B+
Stephon Castle
Castle has rediscovered a groove. In 24 and a half minutes, the second-year guard had 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists while shooting well (6-for-9 from the floor), getting to the free throw line (6-for-8 at the charity stripe) and limiting his miscues. In addition to his offensive production, Castle played rugged defense.
Grade: B+
Devin Vassell
Vassell was relatively quiet. I thought his shot-selection inside of the arc was questionable at times but he saved his night by hitting 2-of-3 from downtown. Vassell authored a couple good passes and played with determination on defense.
Grade: B
Julian Champagnie
Champagnie and Vassell played very similarly. Both had eight points on 3-for-7 shooting from the field to go along with three assists. That said, Champagnie had one more rebound (four) and didn’t turn the ball over. He’s playing a very experienced brand of basketball right now in which he doesn’t try to do too much while remaining a threat from the perimeter.
Grade: B
Dylan Harper
The game against the Kings was another sign that Harper has found his way beyond the rookie wall. In 23 minutes, Harper had 12 points, five assists and five rebounds. He was 5-for-9 from the field while taking smart shots and making the right passes. Harper also had an explosive dunk to feed the highlight reel. Nights like this evening show off the rookie’s towering ceiling. He’s such a natural and has the physical gifts to be something very special in this league.
Grade: A-
Harrison Barnes
Hey, it was nice to see Barnes show some life. He was actually 3-for-7 from three-point range and added a pair of two-pointers and a free throw to put 14 points on the board in 21 minutes. Let’s hope that Barnes rediscovers his touch because the Spurs will need it at some point this season. Against Sacramento, he did a good job of moving his feet on defense but he failed to get a defensive rebound.
Grade: B+
Keldon Johnson
Johnson was angrier than usual during his 21 minutes. His displeasure was aimed at the refs who seemingly missed a number of fouls as the burly forward bulldozed his way to the rim. Give Johnson credit, though, because he didn’t let those missed calls negatively impact his play. He finished with 18 points, highlighted by a 3-for-4 showing from deep. Johnson didn’t have an assist and grabbed only one rebound but his team-high scoring total off the bench helped the good guys.
Grade: B
Luke Kornet
Kornet was good enough in his 13 minutes. While he only had one basket, he hit a pair of free throws, grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists without turning the ball over. The big man continues to do a good job of holding down the fort while the franchise player sits.
Grade: B
Carter Bryant
I mean, I want to have higher praise for Bryant but he struggled a lot in his 11 minutes versus the Kings. His ball-handling was shaky, his decision-making was delayed and he wasn’t disciplined enough on either end. That said, Bryant still helped out by hitting a three-pointer and his stroke continues to look smooth as long as he’s set before he launches.
Grade: C-
Mitch Johnson
Even though this game was closer than expected for stretches, Coach Mitch was still able to rest his troops while waltzing to what turned out to be another easy win. His rotation was fine and he did a good job of not panicking.
