After a two-game cameo in Las Vegas, Dylan Harper is done with NBA Summer League.
Exercising the caution most teams display with their most prized rookies this time of year, the Spurs announced Wednesday that Harper will sit out the remainder of Las Vegas Summer League as he prepares for his rookie campaign.
“He’s right where he needs to be,” Spurs Summer League coach Mike Noyes said.
The No. 2 pick in last month’s draft, Harper totaled 32 points, eight rebounds and two steals in a pair of games in Vegas.
Harper said he enjoyed his stay at Summer League, however brief.
“The atmosphere here is crazy,” said Harper, a former standout at Rutgers. “It’s different when you’re watching it from afar and then when you’re on the court, we the court, you can hear the crowd’s into it no matter what game it is. It is just unbelievable.”
