The ROY favorite had his best month yet, taking over the starting SG position and placing his name in Spurs lore.
For the second time this season, Spurs rookie Stephon Castle has been named NBA Rookie of the Month. He also won the award back in January, making him the fourth Spur to win the award multiple times, along with David Robinson, Tim Duncan and Victor Wembanyama. Per the Spurs’ official press release:
For the month, Castle appeared in 17 games (10 starts), averaging a rookie-best 19.5 points to go with 4.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 28.8minutes. The 2025 Rising Stars MVP scored in double figures in 15-of-17 games, including nine games with 20-or-more (four of those coming off the bench). He was the only rookie to make 100+ field goals (118) in the month. Castle’s 70 free throws made led all first-year players and his 81 assists ranked second. From March 14-29, Castle had a streak of nine games where he scored at least 15 points, becoming the sixth Spurs rookie all-time with such a streak.
Castle averaged 25.5 points, 6.3 assists and 6.3 rebounds against the top three defenses in the league in March. On March 2 vs. Oklahoma City, he finished with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. He followed that up with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists at Cleveland on March 27. Two nights later he recorded 22 points, 8 assists and 2 rebounds vs. Boston on March 29.
