“You’re trying to get into shape to play those heavy minutes (in the regular season) because playing pickup (in the offseason) or even when you scrimmage in practice, it’s not the same feel,” Spurs All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox said of the preseason after Thursday morning’s shootaround at the Victory Capital Performance Center. “You’ve got a short amount of time to get ready for that first game, but we’re pros, we’re expected to be able to do that.”
Fox said he doesn’t expect the rotation players to play their normal amount of minutes until either the fourth or fifth exhibition game.
“At some point in the preseason, I will want to play what my minutes will look like just to make sure you’re ready for it,” Fox said.
