Chinbie:
Flyin-Chancla:
(Harvey Dent)

I have never heard Shaq this gleefully animated on the program…like ever! Guess this play really resonated with him.
birdseye-maple:Shaq was used to all the gnats buzzing around biting him getting away with murder
PetrParker1960s:Little ankle bites are the most annoying ones.
IsuzuTrooper:At 8:41 in the 1st, Bronson tries to take out Wemby’s knee after falling on the foul on Castle. You can see Wemby’s left knee hyperextend when you watch it back. I would shove him too after trying to break my leg.
shinbreaker:Well Shaq would just barrel through other players and was constantly being hacked, I mean for good reason because he sucked at free throws. So I’m sure when he’s seeing Wemby getting held and hacked, he’s getting annoyed because Wemby is so much bigger.
Like this instance right here, you can see that Wemby’s arm is right in Brunson’s arm pit when Brunson goes down. Brunson was hiding him hooking Wemby’s arm by putting his whole body in front so Wemby was pushing off him as he would with any other player who’s hooking him.
Get your little ass out the way lmao
viceneon:Let those little munchkins know
Bolt_McHardsteel:When he made that comment my opinion of him improved 1000%. lol, so great.
Shaq understands why Wemby does this. Shaq and Wemby have different rules when being guarded. Just because of their unique frames, they get to be fouled constantly so Shaq understands how much BS that is and sees it as fair to get back some.
Chinbie:Agree with this take
SameRegret5975:
Ok-Map4381:Shaq and Wemby have different rules when being guarded
100% this.
I got in a debate about the play when Alverado shoulder checked Wemby and Wemby threw Alverado out of the way in retaliation.
They were saying it is a normal box out.
But, I highly doubt they were saying it is a normal play when Castle did nearly the same thing to Brunson when going for rebounding position in game 3.
That Wemby is 7’4" and that Brunson is 6’ doesn’t change that a shoulder check is still a foul either way (there are other factors like inside position and Brunson flopping for his call, but still, a shoulder check is not a legal box out, but since Wemby is tall, no call). m8bear:yeah, like idk if Brunson is the one hitting wemby but every blue jersey grabs, pushes, elbows. It’s not a basketball play by Wemby but the Knick aren’t playing clean either
Brunson goes with the elbow up, right at abs level, every spin, around the time of this play he spins and lands an elbow in Champagnie’s mouth of the stomach that made him lose a step
Shaq is right. By no means do I want to compare myself to professional basketball players, but I played organized basketball in Europe for 20 years. I’m 6’5, and every time you’re way bigger than your opponent, they start holding your jersey, pulling your arms or shoulders, and doing other illegal shit to box you out. One tiny dude even grabbed my balls. Fouling them back every now and then is the only way to stop it. They need to know that if things get physical, they will lose, but they’ll only realize that if you actually act on it once in a while.
Flyin-Chancla:Gave you the ole dick twist!
Xander683:Next offensive rebound, I came in jumping with my hip towards him. He didn’t jump, he was boxing someone else out. He got bulldozered into the floor. Rest of the game, he stayed away from me. It isn’t always pretty, but I completely understand when big men play physical.
Wemby’s elbow might have been over the line tho. Can’t excuse everything. Mpuls37:The elbow to the neck was obviously an emotional retaliation for everything that he’d been dealing with in the game. He let his emotions get the better of him because he tried to stifle the response for too long as opposed to giving back an equal amount to what he was getting.
It’s not the correct thing to do, but I understand it. We’ve all had moments like that, though maybe it was raging in traffic or saying something regrettable after a bad day at work. WhoreyMatthews:There seems to be a weird thing happening with NBA playoff physicality.
The late 80s-2000s had extreme physicality and so teams had guys as enforcers to protect their stars. This kind of stuff was common in the playoffs during that era and games could get out of control if the refs allowed physicality to escalate out of control.
In the 2010s and early 20s the league legislated out extreme physicality. The last couple of post-seasons the league has shifted back to 90sish era physicality in the playoffs and the enforcement actions of that era have also returned. Which is what Shaq is talking about in this clip.
The weird thing is the NBA is basically creating two different sports. Regular season NBA and playoff basketball are officiated as completely different games now.
Charles Oakley would have no place in the NBA in the regular season now but would be a valuable playoff commodity. Xander683:And the fans complain either way. If the league lets stuff happen, everyone is dirty and if they outrule physical play, the league is soft and unwatchable
WhoreyMatthews:100% agreed.
I have to say that at the beginning of the playoffs we were BEGGING Wemby to be more aggressive and stand up for himself because of how much abuse he was taking. He still rarely really responds in such an aggressive manor, but unfortunately when he does he definitely takes a ton of shit for it. They will show this tiny clip over and over and over, without any of the previous fouling on him for reference.
They want to make him the villian. Dsarg_92:“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” — Harvey Dent
Barkley is the so biased against anything spurs related lol.
He even defended OKC flops theedonnmegga:I like how Shaq continually reminds him he didn’t win a title
ReggieR2100:That’s why he looked pissed off after the game sitting there looking at Castle when he was going the postgame interview with them. He just kept saying before game three that we were done. He looked stupid as hell last night. Kenny did also. They were put on the spot.
birdseye-maple:The Inside guys are entertainment, the analysis has been bad for a loooong time.
ReggieR2100:True indeed. That’s why TNT got to a point of rehearsing them. Too many bad reviews and feedback. If you longer benefit the company, you must go.
badtex66:How much did the Chuckter lose $$ last night?
pumpkins21:Ikr, and he fucking got churros for free here. Bastardo!
UseforNoName71:Barkley does not like the Spurs at all - he was saying the series was a wrap. He just has beef with SA since his days with the Phoenix Suns . His takes are meaningless
FUQ Chuck
I actually like no-call here. Call that jersey pull would be very soft. And call foul on Wemby would legitimate “small guard can do anything”.
Euclidding_Me:I think they were distracted by the Keldon v KAT side battle. Which also was a no-call (shockingly) until it kept going a little too far.
That’s were I was looking, even on the replay.
“From a guy that’s won multiple championships”… I love when he sons Barkley like that hahaha.
The more Wemby turns into a bully, the more I remember his evolution is happening before our eyes. He’s not going to be the calm 20 year old forever. Y’all wanna hold him all game, have little guards like Alvarado thrusting shoulders into his chest, you’re poking the f’ing bear.
Shaq definitely hates the “put the little dudes on your best big because they can’t do anything about it trend.
It is bullshit. Like, what was Wemby supposed to do here? Just let Brunson hold him because he’s a hobbit? pumpkins21:Lmfao! Only in the NBA will a 6’2 man be called a hobbit (granted, Wemby is very Treebeard-like). I think I need to see a meme of Brunson as Pippin riding on top of Wembeard
idk if i agree. But its understandable if its coming from shaq, and thats a hilarious way to put it
I think that could’ve and probably should’ve been a flagrant/technical, but IDGAF.
I’m glad we finally have a nasty superstar on our team.
Wemby has been getting held all playoffs. If you don’t hold him, you can’t beat him. Can’t just act like it’s okay to hold him because of that. someguyfromtecate:Precisely this. There’s no defending that elbow on Naz, that was dirty and deserved the ejection and I could understand if he would’ve been suspended. But this was not a dirty play in the sense that he could’ve injured Brunson to take him out of the game. This was just a nasty foul to get in his head that merited a flagrant foul, but would’ve been worth it just for the message sent.
“You guys are going to pull, grab, grapple and hold me all day long, I’m gonna punish you for it whenever I can.” typeHonda:Brunson is also a master of knowing when to finally fold. Little annoyances here and there then once he feels like he can get you a foul with some embellishments he does it. I mean he sold that charge on Castle, not saying Castle didn’t go with some force but he 100% tried to sell it more to make it flagrant. It’s the foul version of a chair pull in the post
cloud-y-meatball:I second this. Coming from Duncan that won’t show emotions unnecessarily, to someone that can get down dirty and become nasty in Wemby. It’s a breath of Spurs fresh air.
I mean this is exactly what KAT does to Wemby all game
It’s fair play go give it back
I liked they didn’t call it. Brunson was omega fine.
I’m firmly believe that this is a flop. Brunson sold that shit so hard.
sh0wt1mederek:He also sold that flop when Castle went to the rim for the board and gave him some contact. Brunson top 3 foul baiter in the league easily and it’s so pathetic
shakygator:he THREW himself down so hard he almost busted his own tailbone. and then he will turn around and drop a shoulder into castle THREE TIMES and castle just stays defending. these guys are soft af.
I didn’t see it last night but saw all the uproar. This ain’t shit. Brunson holding him so wemby through him off, people acting like this is “dirty” are soft
