Victor Wembanyama
The Spurs needed Wembanyama to be great in Game 7 and he delivered. While his statistics weren’t as gaudy as they were in Game 1, the Frenchman gave his squad 42 high-quality minutes. Defensively, he was in the right spots, walled off the paint and rarely made even a single misstep in a possession. Offensively, he hit three huge three-pointers, attacked the rim with purpose and made five important free throws. Turning the ball over only once in this environment with this amount of pressure was truly special. Wembanyama pulled down big-time rebounds in the second half and he smartly navigated the end of the game while dealing with five fouls. This goes down as the exclamation point in what was an outstanding Western Conference Finals for the 22-year-old.

De’Aaron Fox
Fox was the unsung hero of this game. His contributions will be forgotten but he hit timely shots, he helped the Spurs avoid costly turnovers, he played above average defense, and he provided the entire team with a palpable amount of poise and confidence. Fox had 15 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field, including 3-for-7 from deep. He also handed out five assists and his decision-making was practically flawless. Job well done.

Stephon Castle
It wasn’t the cleanest affair but Castle played a vital role in this road win. His defense was spectacular. For as hard as he played on that end, it was impressive that he was able to avoid foul trouble enough to play 36 minutes. Offensively, Castle was the head of the snake. He led the team with six assists and he made a handful of key plays on that end. He had 16 points on 7-for-12 from two-point range. Rebounding-wise, he grabbed six caroms and his physicality in that department was important. Sure, Castle had six turnovers (including four in the fourth quarter) and missed all three of his three-point attempts — but I don’t know if the Spurs could have competed in this game without his contributions. He was that big.

Devin Vassell
Vassell didn’t shoot the ball as well as he would have liked. Before his dunk in the closing seconds, he had missed seven of his previous eight attempts. But despite the substandard shooting accuracy, Vassell did well. I thought he was really good defensively; when Castle was in foul trouble, Vassell stepped up and took the reins as the primary perimeter stopper. He rebounded well, he made the right passes and he went without a turnover in his 33 minutes. Vassell was another player who exhibited excellent competitiveness and it was clear that he was unafraid of the moment. All in all, this has been a very impressive postseason run for the 25-year-old.

Julian Champagnie
To win a Game 7 on the road, you need a role player to have a memorable showing. Champagnie was that man in Oklahoma City. He finished with 20 points, highlighted by his 6-for-10 shooting from deep. For a guy who struggled in clutch situations at times this season, to see him step into huge shots and knock them down with patience and self-assuredness was awesome to witness. Beyond his six loud threes, he rebounded well, he kept his mistakes to a minimum and his defense was a plus. Champagnie might be the least quick of all of San Antonio’s perimeter defenders but he wisely moved to the right spots and was able to contest shots with his length. Overall, this is the type of outing that will make him a South Texas legend if the Spurs can win four more games.

Dylan Harper
Honestly, it was surreal to watch a 20-year-old point guard be the lead ball-handler in the fourth quarter of a Game 7 on the road against the defending champs. I mean, what in the world? But, yeah, Harper delivered once again. He had only two turnovers in 27 minutes despite going against some of the best perimeter defenders in the world who were hunting for steals. Harper had 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including 2-for-3 from downtown. His elite shotmaking was on display as he connected on some of the biggest buckets of the game. Defensively, Harper was really darn good. He is so much better than advertised on that end of the court that it’s ridiculous. Perhaps most importantly, Harper is proving to be a fantastic rebounder, particularly in contested and congested situations. He has lightning-fast reflexes and a nose for the ball that can’t be taught. He tied Wembanyama for the team lead with seven rebounds — and many of those were game-changing boards. Net-net, I don’t know what more a rookie could conceivably provide.

Keldon Johnson
I’ve been hard on Johnson during this postseason run and he has obviously struggled at times over the last few weeks … but, wow, did he ever deliver when it mattered most. In the fourth quarter, KJ authored a pair of enormous three-pointers and a fast-break layup to give the good guys a boost in the final stanza. Add in his burliness on the boards, his all-out doggedness and his lack of mistakes and Johnson deserves every ounce of praise.

Luke Kornet
Kornet grabbed four rebounds and was 0-for-3 from the field in his six minutes. Those numbers will be forgotten. What will live forever is the block Kornet got in the fourth quarter. He chased down Hartenstein with speed I didn’t know he possessed and timed it perfectly to ignite a four-point swing when the Thunder had seemingly grabbed momentum. It was a great, great play that couldn’t have come at a bigger time.

Harrison Barnes
In his three minutes, Barnes only dented the score sheet by missing a three-pointer. He didn’t do anything else of note.

Carter Bryant
Bryant also only played three minutes. He contributed by grabbing a contested rebound and then finishing on the other end with a difficult full-speed layup. While he didn’t play much, the rookie gave his team a boost with that sequence.

Mitch Johnson
Coach Mitch did a great job in his first-ever Game 7. His rotations were ballsy yet smart. Leaning on a rookie like Harper instead of a veteran like Barnes was a series-swinging decision. The offensive gameplan was sound, the defensive gameplan was on point and the entire team appeared to be in the right frame of mind. Masterful work.
