Victor Wembanyama sits on the court after taking a hard fall during the first half of Game 2 of a first-round NBA playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in San Antonio. He did not return to the game.

Victor Wembanyama will fly with the Spurs to Portland on Thursday afternoon, but his status for Game 3 of the team’s first-round playoff series with the Trail Blazers has not been determined, coach Mitch Johnson said after practice.

Wembanyama is in the NBA’s concussion protocol after hitting his head on the court after he was fouled by Jrue Holiday on a drive to the basket in the second period of the 106-103 loss to Portland on Tuesday night at the Frost Bank Center.

“He looks good,” Johnson told reporters. “The update is that he is following each protocol and he’s progressing and he’ll travel with the team.”

Asked if Wembanyama has been ruled out for Game 3 on Friday night at Moda Center, Johnson said, “To my knowledge, we haven’t even had that discussion. It’s just the protocol is the protocol and the league is actually who’s most at the top of that. And so we’re just hoping it continues to progress and whatever that timing is, that’s what it will be.”

Spurs forward Julian Champagnie said Wembanyama “looked good” while doing limited work with his teammates at practice.

“He shot a bit today, so it was pretty good,” Champagnie said.

In other injury news, Johnson said forward Harrison Barnes (shoulder) and guard Dylan Harper (thumb) will be available for Friday’s game.
