Stephon Castle won’t be on the court when the streaking Spurs host lowly Indiana on Saturday night, and the same could also be true of Victor Wembanyama.
Castle will miss his second game in a row with tightness in his right hip, the Spurs announced after their morning shootaround.
The club also downgraded Wembanyama from available to questionable with a sore right ankle. Coach Mitch Johnson is expected to give an update on the status of the two-time All-Star about two hours before tipoff.
Wembanyama must play in nine of the Spurs’ remaining 12 games to qualify for regular season awards such as MVP, defensive player of the year and All-NBA.
The Spurs will enter Saturday night’s game currently seeded second in the West Conference, three games behind Oklahoma City.
The Spurs, 51-18 and winners of their last four games, have clinched an outright playoff berth, ensuring no worse than sixth place in the West.
The lottery-bound Pacers (15-55) have lost 15 in a row.
