Why the Spurs will face the Clippers with a depleted bench

San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet (7) jumps for the ball as LA Clippers guard Jordan Miller (22) watches at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Friday, March 6, 2026. The Spurs defeated the Clippers 116-112.
LOS ANGELES - The Spurs will be without two key reserves when they face the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night at Intuit Dome.
Rookie guard Dylan Harper will miss his second game in a row with a bruised right calf. Center Luke Kornet is also out after emerging from Saturday’s 115-102 win over Charlotte with a sore right knee, according to the injury report the Spurs issued Sunday afternoon.
The Clippers could also be shorthanded after they listed All-Star forward Kahwi Leonard as doubtful with a sprained left ankle.
Kornet finished Saturday’s game with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and a 2-of-2 showing from the foul line to go along with eight rebounds and an assist in 20 minutes.
Two of Kornet’s field goals came on lob buckets set up by Victor Wembanyama in the third quarter in the so-called “French Vanilla” lineup.
With Kornet out, recently signed veteran big man Mason Plumlee could see some playing time.
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said before Saturday’s game Harper was day to day and there were no “long-term concerns” about his injury, which he suffered in Thursday night’s 136-130 loss to Denver.
The No. 2 overall pick finished that game with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and one block in 24 minutes.
