Jeremy Sochan suggested Wednesday that a conflict with coach Mitch Johnson may have factored into the Spurs letting him go last week.
In his first session with the New York media since he signed last Friday with the Knicks, the fourth-year forward was asked why he thought the Spurs waived him.
“No real opportunity in my opinion,” he said, per comments posted on X by The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III. “It is what it is. It’s a deep team.”

But there’s no guarantee Sochan will be a regular part of Brown’s rotation either — at least not at the start.
“I’m not 100 percent sure, but I do see a role for him because of the things I mentioned,” Brown said when asked what Sochan’s role will be with the championship-minded Knicks. “I plan on trying to use him. Hopefully we get to a point where he’s playing 1-5 for us.”
