Banged-up Spurs eyeing All-Star break

The Spurs played Thursday without backup center Luke Kornet, who was sidelined with a twin bout of left groin tightness and left ankle soreness.
In coach Mitch Johnson’s parlance, Kornet was simply banged up. It is a designation Johnson said he might label half the team at this point in the season.
“He’s got a few things going on, as everyone does,” Johnson said of Kornet. “To be honest, there’s a handful of guys who might pop up on the injury report earlier in the day.”
Johnson indicated there might be a few more days off to come for certain players between now and the start of the All-Star break on Feb. 12.
“It’s how does pregame go, how did they finish the game, how do they feel tomorrow morning, how does it go throughout the day?,” Johnson said. “Hopefully it’s not something we’ll see long term, but we’ve got to be mindful of stuff.”
