(All Glory To The Man Above)。”

San Antonio Spurs forward David Jones Garcia (25) answers questions in Spanish after the Spurs’ 135-126 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025. Jones Garcia underwent season-ending surgery to repair a broken ankle and will miss the Rising Stars mini tournament at NBA All-Star weekend.

Spurs two-way guard David Jones Garcia won’t participate in the Rising Stars mini-tournament at All-Star weekend after undergoing successful season-ending surgery on the right ankle he injured in a G League game last month with the Austin Spurs.

The Spurs said Jones suffered the injury on Jan. 10 against the South Bay Lakers at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park. The team did not issue a timetable for his recovery.

Jones Garcia posted a photo to his Instagram story of himself in what appeared to be a hospital bed on Tuesday night with the caption “All Glory To The Man Above.”

“It sucks with that type of injury that he has, but I actually hit him up yesterday,” Spurs forward Devin Vassell said after shootaround Wednesday. “He said everything was good and successful, so I’m happy for him. He’s going to have a bright future. The type of (positive) mindset, mentality he has will go a long way.”

Spurs coach Mitch Johnson agreed.

“David’s a great kid,” Johnson said. “He’s had quite a few check marks or milestones to kind of continue to graduate into the next thing in our program. And he’s someone that has really embraced trying to improve with a lot of the direction and feedback he’s been given. When you’re in that stage of your journey, a young developing player, it’s really important and it’s been fun to be a part of and to observe at times from my vantage point.”

Jones Garcia continued to play in games after the Jan. 10 injury, according to the Austin Spurs website. He suffered what appeared to be a leg injury while driving to the basket late in the third quarter of Austin’s 119-115 loss to the Stockton Kings at the H-E-B Center last Thursday at Cedar Park, The Daily Texan reported.

Jones Garcia finished the game with 14 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

Jones Garcia, a 24-year-old rookie, was one of seven players selected last week to the G League team for the Rising Stars mini-tourney set for Feb. 13 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

The Dominican Republic native averaged 27.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals in five games for the Austin Spurs.
