HOUSTON — Been there, done that: That’s how Stephon Castle is viewing this year’s dunk contest at All-Star Weekend.
“I had my experience,” he said.
Castle, who lost last year’s contest in questionable fashion to Mac McClung, might want to rethink his decision after recording a powerful windmill slam with 8:06 left in the third quarter of Tuesday’s 111-106 loss to the Rockets after he picked off a Kevin Durant pass intended for Amen Thompson.
Speaking of Castle dunks, he bent one of the rims and delayed the opening tip by 22 minutes by hanging on too long after a slam during warmups, NBC video revealed.

“I had no clue,” he said.
The Spurs returned to their locker room at the Toyota Center while the Rockets continued to shoot at their end of the court.
Despite the delay, the Spurs led 39-28 after the first quarter.
“I personally thought we handled it pretty well, considered how we came out and started the game,” said Spurs forward Julian Champagnie, who scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half. “I think we all stayed locked in. Went back to the locker room, played some music. Everybody kind of got re-hyped for the game. I think we did pretty well.”
