According to an ESPN report, the Spurs have been selected to take part in the NBA’s prestigious slate of Christmas Day games this season, slated for a Dec. 25 road meeting with rival Oklahoma City at the Paycom Center.
That happens to be the same Oklahoma City squad months removed from its first league championship since relocating for Seattle.
That tilt is one of five scheduled for Christmas Day, considered the marquee centerpiece of the NBA’s regular season. The others: Cleveland at New York; Houston at the Los Angeles Lakers; Dallas at Golden State; and Minnesota at Denver.
Those contests, as well as the rest of the 2025-26 NBA schedule, is expected to be formally announced by the end of the month.
For the Spurs, this year’s holiday extravaganza will be hard-pressed to match the excitement of their appearance on Christmas Day last season, in which they lost a rollicking thriller 117-114 against New York at Madison Square Garden.
That proved a national coming-out party for Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who went for 42 points and 18 rebounds in the defeat.
