The Spurs have already picked up one addition via free agency in Luke Kornet, and now the first of their own free agents has signed elsewhere. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Sandro Mamukelashvili has agreed to a 2-year, $5.5 million contract with the Toronto Raptors.

Mamu has been in San Antonio for a little over two seasons, with the Spurs signing him back in March 2022 after he was waived by the Milwaukee Bucks. In his time with the Spurs, he averaged 6.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1 assist per game while playing in 126 total games. While he was usually a part of the third unit, he would often see action when another big man ahead of him was injured. He was also a great locker room presence and fan favorite.
Mamu will be greatly missed in San Antonio, but it’s not surprising to see him moving on for a chance at a bigger role elsewhere. Spurs fans will always have fond memories of Mamu, most notably (but not limited to) his out-of-nowhere career night against the New York Knicks this March. He scored 34 points on 13-14 shooting, 7-7 from three in just 19 minutes, becoming the fourth player in NBA history to shoot 90% from the field, 100% on 3-pointers and 100% on free throws in a game.
