Holiday wins NBA Social Justice award over Barnes, others

The NBA announced Wednesday it has selected Boston’s Jrue Holiday as the winner of its 2024-25 NBA Social Justice Champion award.

Holiday came out of a field that included the Spurs’ Harrison Barnes, Miami’s Bam Adebayo, Toronto’s Chris Boucher and New Orleans’ C.J. McCollum to win the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy.

The NBA will donate $100,000 to the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund, which has distributed more than $5.3 million in grants and delivered more than 400 hours of coaching and support to nearly 200 businesses across the U.S since its inception in 2020.

Barnes’ many charitable endeavors this past season included a $250,000 donation to AlamoPROMISE, a tuition-free program at St. Philip’s College, the largest Historically Black College (HBCU) and Hispanic-Serving Institution in the country.
