I think its perfectly fine to just have him find his niche as a role player rather than look to feed him bunch of possessions when thats not his game or likely future with the Spurs.
G League and summer league are hard fits for him for that reason as he doesnt have guys that create for him and hes a play finisher not a play creator.

Telling a kid ‘You aren’t ready to play in the NBA’ after playing all last season in the NBA will NOT improve his confidence.
You give him second unit, meaningful minutes. You make his bag smaller so that he doesn’t have top make a lot of decisions. You tell him that he has a green light to shoot, drive, or move the ball around the horn, but not to get too fancy with trying to create for others.
Make his role more defined, and playing to his strengths, and then you tell him to ball out.

This is why people thinking he would get time over most of the Spurs depth (Tobias, Harrison, even Keldon) need to pause (or at very least), slow down. He was still really green coming out of the playoffs.
Harper is a massive outlier, and Castle good outlier.
From all reports, Spurs are happy with Carter, but also expect him to take longer (given the reports say he is where they expected him to be at this point, given his age and college playing experience). Jayden likely will have a similar path due to limited college playtime + injuries and his under developed offense (so far).

I would like for folks to go ahead and accept what he is offensively, because he’ll start to get hate for it if they don’t. He’s very likely gonna be a low-leverage offensive player who’s a good-not-great spot-up shooter and opportunistic cutter. Over time, he’ll hopefully add some basic straight-line driving capabilities.
If he’s a slight moderate on offense and great/elite defender, that’s still good value at #11.

I was always getting downvoted for pointing out his complete lack of offensive game. He offers literally nothing besides catch and shoot 3’s or maybe cuts to the basket to catch a lob or run in and dunk as long as nobody is in his way. His ball handling is awful and his ability to get off a good shot going one on one with someone is equally bad. He’s very young tho.

His game ain’t made for summer league. Carter is reliant on other playmakers and situations to get him the ball, which isn’t gonna happen during the games where a bunch of bums play hero ball to try and prove why they should make the G league squad. He’s proved himself in the games that actually matter and that should be good enough for everyone here

Bryant is completely and utterly bagless, lol. He’ll be a net-positive player due to defense and adequate spot-up shooting, but he can’t take on any offensive leverage, even in summer-league.
Which is okay. He wasn’t drafted for on-ball value.

Creation skill rarely develops out of nothing. Creation leaps are *usually* from guys who have flashes but are so inconsistent that they don’t try often. Bryant doesn’t have those flashes.

I only watched short stretches but to me, it looked more like he wasn’t getting touches. Many times Gillespie would go 1:1 and ignore Carter (and everyone else)
Tarris had a solid outing…
