Spurs reveal NBA Summer League plans for top pick Jayden Quaintance
Top draft pick Jayden Quaintance is on the Spurs’ Summer League roster but that doesn’t mean he’ll see any time on the court.
The forward from Kentucky will travel with the team to San Francisco and Las Vegas but won’t practice or play, Spurs summer league coach Corliss Williamson said Tuesday.
Quaintance’s inactivity at Summer League is no surprise after he told reporters last week the Spurs continue to stress to him “their priority is to make me 100 percent healthy.”
The forward said after the Spurs selected him 20th overall that he faces another surgery on his right knee after undergoing a procedure to repair a torn ACL in March 2025 at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix when he was a freshman at Arizona State.
“Right now, he’s not playing,” Williamson said after the first day of a two-day Summer League minicamp.
“He’s here. He’s engaged. He’s here at every practice,” Williamson added. “Good young man. I like his talent and look forward to seeing him for some years.”
