Spurs backup center Luke Kornet is questionable for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night due to an illness, according to the team’s injury report released late Friday afternoon.
Kornet was scoreless in four minutes in the 107-106 loss in Game 3. He wasn’t on the injury report before the game at Madison Square Garden.
With Kornet playing so few minutes, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama logged 44 while scoring 24 points on an inefficient 9-of-25 from the field to go with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Wembanyama said after the game he wasn’t as strong at the end of it as he wanted to be.
Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said Friday he should have done a better job managing Wembanyama’s minutes.
“I do believe that I have to make sure that I help him have the energy required to finish the game as strong as he needs to finish the game,” Johnson said. “Looking back on the game, I think I could have done better in that regard.”
