Sizing up the challenge of facing Victor Wembanyama in the NBA Finals, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson called the Spurs star’s impact “pretty incredible.”
“It’s pretty unbelievable, the things he’s able to do on both sides of the ball, people have never really seen before, for a person of his size,” Brunson said. “As an opposing player, it’s something you constantly have to be on watch for. You just never know the things that he’s capable of doing.”
OG Anunoby, a 6-foot-7 forward, is one of the Knicks who has been tasked with guarding Wembanyama in the past and might draw the matchup again in this series. He compared the assignment to matchups with skilled big men like Nikola Jokic, Kristaps Porzingis or Joel Embiid but said Wembanyama is different as the largest of the group with a 7-foot-4 frame.

“With tremendous effort and results. They dominated the away court, Game 7,” Wembanyama said. “I’ve known for years that the Spurs community had this strength in them. Now to finally see it being channeled into something organized and efficient, effective, it’s a great joy.”
A small group of Jackals managed to attend Game 7 of the Western Conference finals in Oklahoma City after H-E-B stepped forward to help with the cost of tickets.
“Huge praise from the Alien himself,” the group posted from the Twitter account @SpursJackals following Wembanyama’s comments Tuesday, “and it means the world to us.”
