MINNEAPOLIS — Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper would have gladly exchanged his second playoff outing of 20-plus points for a 3-1 series lead over the Timberwolves heading back to San Antonio for Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals.
“I would have liked to have won,” Harper said. “That was the biggest thing, the biggest goal for all of us. It being close, not getting something (hurts). I think that with all the good things we did, we can do even better.”
Harper finished with 24 points powered by 8-of-11 shooting from the field and a 7-for-7 effort from the free throw line to go with seven rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench.
It was his first game of 20 or more points in the postseason since he had 27 in a 120-108 win at Portland in Game 3 of the first round and it left De’Aaron Fox shaking his head at how good his young teammate is.
“Doing that at 20 years old, it’s definitely not something that’s normal,” said Fox who also had 24 points.

“We have a lot of young players I don’t think are anywhere near reaching their ceiling or optimal level of playing," Mitch Johnson said before Sunday’s game. “And we’re still learning about each other and ourselves. The coach has room to grow and get better. So, yeah, I just don’t think we’re anywhere near being a finished product by any means. There’s a lot of room to improve.”
With Wembanyama just 22, Castle 21 and Harper and fellow rookie Carter Bryant 20, it’s hard to argue against Johnson’s assessment.
Gobert delivers for Timberwolves
Minnesota center Rudy Gobert finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds in Game 4 for his fourth double-double of the 2026 playoffs and the 45th such game of his playoff career.
Gobert is the 40th player in NBA history to have 45-plus playoff games with a point/rebound double-double.
The Frenchman also tied Reid for the team high for assists with four, marking just the second time in his career he’s led his team in assists in a playoff game.
