Minnesota star Anthony Edwards has been upgraded from questionable to available for Game 1 against the Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch announced during his pre-game news conference Monday night.
“He loves to play the game,” Finch said, adding that the four-time All-Star guard was motivated to return from his knee injury after Minnesota defeated Denver in the first-round.
Finch said Edwards would be on a minutes restriction but declined to say if he would start.
Edwards suffered a hyperextension and bone bruise of his left knee on April 25 in Game 4 of Minnesota’s first-round series against Denver. After sitting out the final two games of that series, he’s ready to go against the Spurs.
In other injury news, the Spurs downgraded rookie forward Carter Bryant from questionable to out with a right foot sprain that coach Mitch Johnson said occurred last week in practice.
Johnson said he is “optimistic” that Carter’s injury “won’t be long term.”
