I mean teams are literally selling out to stop him from scoring. Whoever is guarding him is constantly shoving him around and every defender is just ready to leave their man to help. Julian and Devin are getting some really great looks, and when the guards are cutting off him while shooting even just decently from short mid range there is just a lot of action to stop. And that isnt even accounting for the nightmare happening on the other half of the court.

So one thing the Spurs have been doing lately (besides winning lol) is having positive stats in ugly-ass games. They had a ton of assists tonight, but few turnovers. Stuff like that is evidence of playing the game the right way, and it’s exactly the kind of thing you want to see when it comes to playoff preparation. You have to bring your A-effort regardless of whether or not you’re on your A-game.

Moving Julian into the starting lineup for Barnes was a huge move. He’s younger, a more athletic defender, and rebounds better. Both can be streaky shooters, but Champ has been on more recently. I think come playoff time when rotations usually shrink to 8, Barnes might be the odd man out for consistent minutes. Him and Bryant will probably fall out of the rotation a bit.
Such a deep team though. It’s insane to see different players be the leading scorer routinely
