A big week with lots of points and blocks made Wemby the second Spur to win the award this season.
Probably of little surprise to anyone who watched him last week, Victor Wembanyama was named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week after leading the Spurs to a 2-0 record while averaging 36 points, 6.5 rebounds and a whopping 7 blocks. Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons joins him as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

It was quite the week on both ends of the floor for Wemby and the Spurs in general. Finally healthy for the first time this season, they were able to incorporate their preferred starting lineup of Chris Paul, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Jeremy Sochan alongside Wemby, and the grouped shined without taking away from their star player. In a thrilling OT win against the Hawks, Wemby posted 42 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks, including taking over in overtime.
In their second game of the week, Wemby posted a rare 30-point, 10-block double-double, becoming just the sixth player in NBA history to record such a stat line. He also passed David Robinson for most consecutive games with a block in franchise history at 62 (and counting) and becoming the 15th fastest player to reach 200 three-pointers made, beating out even the NBA’s top three-point shooters of all time in Steph Curry, James Harden and Ray Allen.
