Following one of the Longhorns’ eight scores, Ginobili and recently resigned forward Sandro Mamukelashvili were invited to fire off “Smokey the Cannon,” the replica Civil War artillery gun that thunders as four 10-gauge blank shotgun shells are fired following every Texas touchdown and field goal.

A number of other Spurs attended Saturday’s game at DKR, which sits across the street from the Moody Center where the Spurs will play a pair of 2024-25 regular-season “home” games in February. This will mark the third straight season Austin’s two-year old basketball arena will host the Spurs for the “I-35 Series.”
Though the Spurs have cozied up to the Longhorns of late – Manu and Mamu firing the cannon didn’t exactly sit well with many UTSA fans – a few players did show some love to the local program. Sixth-year forward Keldon Johnson, at least, donned a custom orange Roadrunners jersey with his new No. 0 for the game.
