As an addendum to an earlier report, there is breaking news out of San Antonio that Tim Duncan may have suffered a sprained ankle during the Spurs’ practice this morning. There is no word from the Spurs about the severity of the sprain, but we will keep you posted.
After suggesting that Tim Duncan’s hyperextended left knee would not cause him to miss any time, the Spurs had become concerned that their franchise player might not be able to play in both games of a back-to-back situation on Tuesday and Wednesday. “We’ll see how it goes,” head coach Gregg Popovich told the San Antonio Express-News.
“He’s getting better every day, but we want to be real careful with that. He didn’t go today at practice (Sunday) and I want to see how he gets through [practice] tomorrow.”
Originally, the team was very positive about the extent of the injury, especially with four full days off between games. However, their cautious approach given their record, Duncan’s importance to the team, and the looming All-Star break is understandable.
