Wembanyama’s role in the deal
Wembanyama joined BARCODE in 2023, the same year the French citizen was drafted as the first overall pick by the Spurs. He plans to work closely with Axum, the 22-year-old said in the statement about the deal.
The NBA star will continue as a shareholder and strategic partner for the hydration brand, Muhammad said.
Los Angeles-based BARCODE was co-founded in 2021 by a former performance director for NBA teams, Mubarak Malik, and NBA champion Kyle Kuzma.
