* Wemby takes less than max
* Billy Donovan signed as lead assistant
* Kept the 11 players that played the most minutes in the Finals playoff run together.
* Julian extension locked down
* Added a veteran PF (biggest position of need) for the MLE. He put up 18/7 in the playoffs last year
* Added a ready to play now center from UCONN
* Added a super high upside PF/C who just turned 19 and could become the 2nd most impactful defensive player in the league
* Added two 2nd round picks with high upsides and signed them to two-way deals.
That’s a very good season with several additive moves for a team that just won 62 games and made the Finals. Doing that while not losing a single rotation player and adding one of the best tactician coaches to the bench is a massive win.
Look at the teams around us.
* Knicks lost Mitchell Robinson and replaced him with Drummond? Downgrade.
* OKC lost Dort, Wiggins, and Joe. Mara is too slow and they didn’t address their need for wing/PF size.
* Timberwolves dropped Randle and Naz for LaMelo Ball and Josh Green. They still do not have a single playable PF on the roster and will be forced to use 185lb Jaden McDaniels at PF.
* Nuggets are still struggling with the 2nd apron and haven’t done anything other than lose THJ and Jonas V and sign Marvin Bagley.
* Houston did nothing at all to improve their team. They added another non-shooting defensive guard in Marcus Smart to a team with FVV and Amen Thompson.
I’m thrilled with where we stand, especially when you look at what the other teams in the West did.

That Tobias Harris signing is HUGE for the team. He will space the floor pretty well and can help on the boards. The biggest part about this is that Tobias Harris at the 4 and Kornet at the 5 on the floor together won’t have any deficiencies in rebounds like it did when it was Kornet and a whole bunch of smaller forwards like KJ and Champagnie.

Yeah, Tobias is such a well-rounded player he will work well next to Wemby, Kornet, or Reed. He gives a really solid veteran presence and is a super well-liked person in the locker room. My cousin worked for the Pistons during his first stint there and he is everyone’s favorite off the court.

I’m fine with it. We retained our important players, and got a good FA signing. Our drafts have potential too.
But also I think Jazz is about to come through like a wrecking ball next season. Their tanking actually paid off dividends, and now they have a back court of keyonte and peterson, and a front court of JJJ and Markkanen, plus ace bailey coming into his second year. We shouldn’t underestimate them.

I mean, on paper, we’ll be very competitive on the next 6 years thanks to Wemby taking 25% instead of 30%, and we’re the favourites for next year.
We didn’t make any big move but we didn’t need to.
