OKLAHOMA CITY — The Spurs have a clean injury report for Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, but the Oklahoma City Thunder will be without at least one key rotation player for Tuesday night’s game.
Guard Ajay Mitchell is out with a calf injury, the Thunder announced. He also missed the Spurs’ 103-82 victory in Game 4 at the Frost Bank Center.
Mitchell had 10 points, two assists and four steals in Oklahoma City’s 122-113 win over the Spurs in Game 2 before finishing with two points, five rebounds and one assist in the Thunder’s 123-108 win in Game 3.
The series is knotted at 2-2 heading into Game 5.
But not all the injury news is negative for the defending NBA champions. Forward Jalen Mitchell has been upgraded to questionable after missing Game 4 with the hamstring issue that has plagued him for much of the regular season and playoffs.
Williams had 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the Spurs’ 122-115 double-overtime victory in Game 1. He was limited to four points, a rebound and two steals in just seven minutes in Game 2.
Williams sat out the entire second-round sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers due to his hamstring, which he re-aggravated in Game 2 against the Spurs.
Ailing Spurs guards De’Aaron Fox (ankle) and Dylan Harper (groin) continue to fight through their pain.
“They’re competing their ass off and they’re not 100 percent,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said.
