According to a Monday X post, the Alamo City attraction isn’t being shy about its silver-and-black pride amid the Spurs NBA playoff run. Eyeing the outcome of the series with the Thunder, the zoo’s social media account placed a playful bet with the Oklahoma City Zoo.
“Hey @okczoo, Up for a little wager? Losing team’s zoo (aka you) has to fly the winning teams for a day! GO SPURS GO #PorVida,” the post read. The message was signed off by @MananaZoo, the X handle of Tim Morrow, the San Antonio Zoo’s president and CEO.

The Oklahoma City Zoo appeared to agree to the terms the San Antonio Zoo set, according to a response post they added to Facebook. “Hey San Antonio Zoo, We love a good wager! We’re game — get ready to rock the orange and blue tomorrow! LET’S GO Oklahoma City Thunder! #ThunderUp Sincerely, OKC Zoo ,” the post read.
The Spurs claimed a 122-115 victory against the Thunder on their home turf in a historic double overtime game. Now, the teams are set to face off once again for Game 2 at the Frost Bank Center on Friday.
“CHALLENGE HAS BEEN ACCEPTED!” the San Antonio Zoo wrote. “Series losing zoo to fly other team’s flag for a day. GO SPURS GO.”
