Will the Spurs’ Carter Bryant return for Game 2?

San Antonio Spurs forward Carter Bryant, center, talks to his teammate guard Stephon Castle on the bench during the first half of Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Monday, May 4, 2026. Bryant sat out due to injury.
Spurs rookie forward Carter Bryant sat out Monday night’s 104-102 loss to Minnesota with sprained right foot.
Bryant suffered the injury last week in practice, Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said.
“Optimistic that it won’t be longer term,” Johnson said before Game 1 of the 14th overall pick’s injury.
“Shouldn’t be long,” Bryant told the San Antonio Express-News before the game.
While Bryant watched the game from the bench, fellow rookie Dylan Harper put together another strong outing, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes.
The No. 2 overall pick has scored in double figures in four of his last five postseason games, including pumping in 27 points in a 120-108 in Game 3 at Portland while a concussion sidelined Victor Wembanyama.
“I thought he was great,” Johnson said of Harper after Monday’s game. “I thought he walked into the playoffs with the appropriate approach and I think his performances have followed that.”

Johnson had Harper in the game for the final 5:45.
“It was great,” the Rutgers alumnus said of playing in crunch time. “That’s something that everyone wants to play in. I’m fortunate coach Johnson has that trust in me to go out there for the last few minutes. It’s just a blessing really.”
Spurs forward Keldon Johnson raved about the composure Harper has as a rookie.
“It’s definitely not something you see every day,” he said. "His composure, his skills, his consistency have been unmatched in my opinion. To see how young he is (20), the potential he has and how much room he still has to grow while still being able to affect and control the game the way he does and be a general out there, it’s not normal.
“I’m glad to be on his side.”
