(Victor Wembanyama)
评分:A-
(De’Aaron Fox)
评分:A
(Stephon Castle)
评分:A-
(Devin Vassell)
评分:A-
(Julian Champagnie)
(Dylan Harper)
(Keldon Johnson)
(Luke Kornet)
(Harrison Barnes)
(Carter Bryant)
(Mitch Johnson)

Playoff Grades: San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers – Game 4
The San Antonio Spurs were behind 17 points at halftime against the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 4. However, the second half was a completely different story. The Spurs went on an immediate run after halftime and knotted the game by the start of the fourth period. Minutes later, the Spurs were in the process of blowing out the Blazers. When the smoke cleared, San Antonio had a 114-93 road win and a 3-1 lead in the series.
Stats: Spurs at Blazers

Spurs at Blazers – Final Grades
Victor Wembanyama
Early on, Wembanyama looked too hyped up. Due to missing Game 3 with a concussion, this was his first ever road playoff game. His shot-selection was iffy in the beginning section of the game and he was trying to do too much. Eventually, though, Wembanyama settled in and was absolutely dominant. Defensively, he took over the game in the second half. He finished with seven blocks, four steals and 12 boards and his movement was amazing. Offensively, Wembanyama righted the ship and killed Portland after halftime. He finished 9-for-17 from the floor and 8-for-8 from the line. He was aggressive and more physical around the rim than usual. When Wembanyama is playing with this mixture of passion and smarts, he’s a tough cookie — to put it gently.
Grade: A-
De’Aaron Fox
I’ll admit, I was a bit worried for Fox after his slow playoff start. He looked more like a role player than a player capable of carrying a starring role. Thankfully, though, Fox put a lot of those worries to rest in Game 4. He ran the show damn well, finishing with seven assists and a number of other quality passes. Scoring-wise, Fox had it going from all distances. He was lethal on the drive and hit 4-of-8 three-point attempts. All told, he scored a team-high 28 points in 39 minutes. If the speedy guard can play like this on a consistent basis, the good guys will be difficult to defeat.
Grade: A
Stephon Castle
The good: Castle was 3-for-6 from three-point range, as Portland’s strategy of not guarding him isn’t really working. He also authored eight assists to only one turnover. When the Spurs got it going in the second half, a lot of it was Castle orchestrating the proceedings. I loved his defensive intensity and his chutzpah. Castle appears to be built for playoff basketball — and that’s about as high of a compliment as I can give. The bad: Castle shot only one free throw and was 3-for-8 from two-point range. He needs to finish better to maximize his value. Defensively, Castle was sometimes slowed due to foul trouble.
Grade: A-
Devin Vassell
It’s hard not to love how Vassell is playing right now. Defensively, he’s super active and extra physical. He’s jumping higher and throwing his body around more going for rebounds. He’s passing well while limiting mistakes. When the going gets tough, the plays start running through Vassell — and he’s been delivering. It’s just a smart, bouncy, courageous style of play we usually don’t see out of him. Keep it up.
Grade: A-
Julian Champagnie
The story for Champagnie is similar to how it’s been all season. His volume is low offensively but his efficiency has been high. He’s giving good effort on defense but sometimes he looks unathletic compared to the others on the court. Champagnie is playing his role reasonably well but it feels like he’s due for a breakout game offensively.
Grade: B
Dylan Harper
After stealing the show in Game 3 and looking like a future superstar, Harper came floating back to earth in Game 4. But, alas, that’s how it’ll be for a rookie contributor in the postseason. He was 1-for-6 from the field and only had one assist in 25 minutes. That said, I would say that Harper was better than those numbers suggest. He handled quite a bit of ball-handling duties, he defended well and he remained a threat that the Blazers needed to account for. But, yeah, no, this was a struggle compared to his Game 3 explosion.
Grade: C-
Keldon Johnson
The Sixth Man of the Year has largely been a nonfactor in this series but showed some signs of life in Game 4. He hit a big three-pointer and had a couple drives going hard to the rim. Johnson had some impressive defensive possessions but could have been more consistent in that area and rebounding in general. San Antonio isn’t leaning on him too much but a breakout performance could help blow a game open and put the Blazers to bed.
Grade: C
Luke Kornet
Kornet finishing the game 1-for-7 paints a pretty clear picture that the seven-footer was unable to hold the fort for Wembanyama on this night. When the Frenchman sat, Kornet was rarely able to stop the bleeding. His saving grace was rebounding, which he excelled at on both ends of the court.
Grade: D+
Harrison Barnes
Barnes had a driving dunk … and that was about it in 11 minutes. His defense and rebounding are noticeably substandard right now. Add in his very limited production offensively and it’s getting really difficult to justify Barnes getting any minutes. I don’t know if he got old overnight but he’s just not a player who does much anymore.
Grade: D+
Carter Bryant
Bryant played about six minutes, 90 seconds of which came in garbage time. One of his two threes came in garbage time. It was a little bit surprising he didn’t get more run after a great Game 3 but I thought he played pretty well in the time he got. Bryant is clearly someone who can be a difference-maker in a playoff game — and that’s a pretty rare attribute for a rookie.
Grade: B
Mitch Johnson
Whatever Coach Mitch said at halftime was gold. The Spurs outscored the Blazers 73-45 after intermission. The Spurs executed extremely well in the second half and stuck to their gameplans on both ends. The rotation was iffy at spots but San Antonio’s talent eventually made that a moot point. To be fair, though, Coach Mitch deserves some of the blame for the poor first half.
