PORTLAND, Ore. — Spurs guard Stephon Castle downplayed his late-game dustup with All-Star guard Deni Avdija in Sunday’s 114-93 win over the Trail Blazers in Game 4 of the first-round playoff series.
“We’re just competing,” Castle said. “Nothing crazy.”
Avdija saw it differently, accusing Castle of taunting.

The altercation began after Castle drove past Avdija for a layup that gave the Spurs a 104-90 advantage with 2:13 left.
After Castle handed the ball to Avidja at chest level, the two exchanged shoves, which resulted in each being issued technical fouls.
“You can be tough, you can be, you know, physical, but there’s a level of disrespect I’m not going to accept,” said Avdija, who led the Blazers with 26 points.
“He’s a good player. I have a lot of respect for him,” said Avdija, who was quick to add that “shoving the ball into my chest is unnecessary.”
Avdija also accused Castle, who finished with 16 points and eight assists, of trying to provoke him throughout the game.
“At one point, it was just disrespectful. I’m not playing that,” Avdija said.
