Por Vida(终身)。”

What De’Aaron Fox said about Spurs 'crazy Hispanic fans" flap

Several Spurs fans wore T-shirts emblazoned with “Crazy Hispanic Fan” to Saturday night’s 134-119 win over Indiana in response to a video that went viral of what appeared to be a woman at the playoff-clinching win over Phoenix last week texting to someone named “Chris,” “A lot of crazy hispanic fans,” followed by “All Hispanic! How can they afford it.”
The video was shot over the woman’s shoulder during the game at the Frost Bank Center and does not show her face. The woman appears to be seated in one of the lower sections at the sold-out game.

The Spurs Facebook fan page SPURS Uncensored posted the video. An overlay text on the video reads, “If your gma (grandma) was at the game tonight, ew.”
Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox shook his head at the woman’s observations when asked about them after the win over the Pacers.
"My high school was 60 percent Hispanic. I’m from Texas. Like, what do you expect? It’s like going to Boston and complaining that there’s a bunch of white people,” said Fox, an alumnus of Cypress Lakes in Katy.
“What kind of sense is that? That makes zero sense. I’m from Houston, man. I think that’s the most diverse city in the country. My kids are a quarter Mexican, so they’re going to be used to it."
The fans wearing the “Crazy Hispanic Fan” T-Shirts appeared to be mainly in the section containing the Spurs Jackals, the fan club founded by Victor Wembanyama. Posted on the @SpursJackals X account was the following message:
“We do not tolerate any discrimination. That being said, we will not give power to the ignorant. We are proud of our heritage, our cultura, and our city. There’s a reason our hashtag is #PorVida. So, yeah, we are crazy Hispanic fans, but don’t think for a second that’s an insult.”
The Spurs issued the following statement on Friday: “All of us in the Spurs organization are proud to live in San Antonio, a city that shines and thrives because of the culture and contributions of our Latino community. Inclusion is a foundation for the San Antonio Spurs. We strive to provide an environment, in our facilities and across our community, that celebrates belonging and respect regardless of race or ethnicity.” Por Vida."
