The Spurs on Friday, March 13, 2026 announced the hiring of James Suh as their chief financial officer.
The Spurs on Friday announced the hiring of former Florida Panthers executive James Suh as their chief financial officer.
Suh will oversee “all financial operations and long-term strategic planning for Spurs Sports & Entertainment and its portfolio of teams and venues” while reporting directly to franchise chief executive officer R.C. Buford, the Spurs said in a press release.
“James is an accomplished leader with a proven ability to navigate complex organizations and deliver sustainable growth,” Buford said. “His experience leading financial strategy at the highest levels of professional sports, combined with his collaborative leadership style and values that align deeply with our culture and community-driven mission, makes him an outstanding addition to our executive team. As we continue to invest in our teams, our venues and our community, James will play a critical role in shaping the future of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.”
During his three-plus years with the Panthers, a run that began in January 2023, Suh led a 31-person team across finance, legal, HR and IT. Among the highlights of his tenure with the NHL franchise was helping secure a nine-year arena extension agreement. In 2025, he was recognized as South Florida Business Journal’s CFO of the Year in the $100–$500 million category.
The Toronto native also worked for 11 years with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, including a stint as vice president of finance.
Suh is a CPA and has a bachelor’s degree in commerce with honors in accounting and finance from the University of Toronto.
“I’m honored to join SS&E and contribute to the continued success of the organization,” he said. “Across our teams, venues and community work, this organization represents excellence at every level, and I look forward to working alongside our leadership team to build on that by driving strategic growth and long-term sustainability.”
