Victor Wembanyama could be forced to sit out Thursday night’s home game against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets after the Spurs listed him as questionable with right ankle soreness.
The All-Star center popped up on the injury report late Wednesday afternoon after finishing Tuesday night’s 125-116 win over Boston with 39 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 37 minutes.
Wembanyama last missed a game on Jan. 3, when the Spurs lost 115-110 to Portland at the Frost Bank Center. It was the second game in a row he sat out with a knee injury.
Wembanyama also missed 12 games in a row between Nov. 16 and Dec. 10 with a calf injury.
The Spurs are 10-4 without Wembanyama, who would be replaced in the starting lineup by Luke Kornet if he can’t go against the Nuggets.
In other injury news, the Spurs upgraded forward Harrison Barnes from out to questionable after he missed the last five games in a row with a left ankle impingement.
Guard Lindy Water (illness) is also questionable.
The Spurs are 48-17 after winning five straight and 16 of their last 17 games. The Nuggets (39-26) host Houston on Wednesday night before flying to San Antonio.
