Myra Arthur has deep roots within the Alamo City. The Kentucky native has called San Antonio home since her high school years, when the Spurs won their first championship in 1999, according to her KSAT-TV biography.

KSAT-TV, San Antonio’s local ABC affiliate, just dropped some big news after a major staffing shakeup. Myra Arthur, a veteran reporter with nearly 15 years of experience at the station, has been named as the new co-anchor of “The Nightbeat.”

The shift comes weeks after Stephania Jimenez, the segment’s former co-anchor, announced her departure from the station in December. Now Jimenez is serving as an evening news anchor for one of KSAT’s sister stations in Houston — and Arthur is diving into a new chapter of her career.

According to her KSAT biography, Arthur has deep roots within the Alamo City. The Kentucky native has called San Antonio home since her high school years, when the Spurs won their first championship in 1999.

After graduating from Ronald Reagan High School on the city’s Northeast Side, Arthur then went on to earn a journalism degree from Dallas’ Southern Methodist University. She landed her first television jobs in Corpus Christi and Waco from there, eventually returning to San Antonio in 2012 to kick off her career at KSAT.

During her time at the station, Arthur has assumed a variety of reporting responsibilities. Those responsibilities included anchoring the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts, hosting the “KSAT Explains” series, delivering “Know My Neighborhood” impact stories and leading KSAT Town Halls.

Now, Arthur says she’s looking forward to a fresh chapter at the station.

“Sharing the stories of San Antonio is a tremendous responsibility and one I’m proud of,” Arthur said in a Monday news release. “It’s an honor to do that with The Nightbeat audience … I’m excited to write a new chapter at a station that feels like home in a city that is home.”

Arthur will join Ernie Zuniga at 10 p.m. every weeknight effective immediately, according to the station.
