(Victor Wembanyama)

评分:A-

(De’Aaron Fox)

(Devin Vassell)

(Julian Champagnie)

(Harrison Barnes)

(Dylan Harper)

评分:A-

(Keldon Johnson)

(Luke Kornet)

(Carter Bryant)

(Mitch Johnson)

Grades: San Antonio Spurs vs. Orlando Magic – Game #49

After a host of travel delays, the Spurs made it to San Antonio in time to hand the Orlando Magic a 112-103 defeat. The win improved the Spurs to 33-16, while the loss dropped the Magic to 25-23.

The Spurs got off to a hot start to take a 37-21 lead at the end of the first period. The Magic got hot in the second quarter to erase San Antonio’s advantage. Thankfully, the good guys picked up their defensive intensity in the second half to secure the win.

Stats: Spurs vs. Magic

Spurs vs. Magic – Final Grades

Victor Wembanyama

Wembanyama had a very productive outing against the Magic. Although he was 0-for-4 from deep, the Frenchman was hugely impactful inside of the arc. He was 7-for-9 on two-pointers and 11-for-15 at the free throw line. His activity and toughness stood out. Defensively, Wembanyama was dominant. He had five blocks and four steals in 28 minutes while hustling and rotating at a high level.

Grade: A-

De’Aaron Fox

Fox played great in the first quarter. In fact, he was the reason the Spurs got out to a big lead early on. In the first, Fox was 5-for-6 from the field with two assists. Unfortunately, he cooled off the rest of the way — finishing just 2-for-8 from the floor. To his credit, though, Fox continued to pass the ball well and finished with a team-high ten assists.

Grade: B+

Devin Vassell

Vassell’s return from injury continues to go well. Versus Orlando, he was 2-for-5 from deep, 5-for-8 from two-point territory and totaled three assists. His decision-making was solid and he efforted on defense.

Grade: B+

Julian Champagnie

Champagnie once again rebounded well, finishing with eight in 31 minutes. He also hit a couple threes, a trio of free throws and his lone two-point attempt to finish with 11 points. Add in above average defense and this was a successful night at the office for Champagnie.

Grade: B

Harrison Barnes

The good: Back in the starting lineup due to an injury to Stephon Castle, Barnes rebounded better than normal, limited his mistakes and hit a three-pointer. The bad: Barnes’ offense continues to be in a slump. He scored only seven points in 29 minutes and seems to be low in confidence.

Grade: C

Dylan Harper

Harper is stacking his positive outings. While he was 1-for-5 from three-point range and 2-for-4 at the charity stripe, the rookie was 6-for-7 on two-pointers and totaled five assists, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 28 minutes. His defensive activity level was elevated and his attacking of the basket is a lethal weapon right about now.

Grade: A-

Keldon Johnson

This was a smart, efficient outing for Johnson. He had ten rebounds to get back to where his bread has been buttered for most of this season. He was also 1-for-2 on threes, 4-for-7 on twos and 3-for-4 at the line. By scoring 14 points in 25 minutes, Johnson kept the bench unit afloat during important stretches.

Grade: B+

Luke Kornet

Kornet has only two points in his last three games but he’s positively impacting the game in other areas. His passing was very good against the Magic and he was aggressive and physical on defense. Kornet could have been better on the glass, however.

Grade: B-

Carter Bryant

Bryant looked uncoordinated and timid going to the basket a couple times but there were some positives on this night. He hit a three-pointer, had a big dunk and played hard on defense. Clearly, though, Bryant’s wherewithal on both ends needs work.

Grade: C

Mitch Johnson

Playing without Castle, I liked Johnson’s rotation. He gave more minutes to Harper and Bryant, which will be good for their growth. Getting this win while playing nobody more than 31 minutes was impressive.
