So when the final buzzer sounded Thursday night, he let out a primal scream as he high fived every hand he could find. Fans, teammates, coaches, it didn’t matter. He was tasting victory, real victory, for the first time in a while. Victory over his struggles. Victory over opponents. Victory with his teammates. This is what winning feels like and he was remembering just how special it feels.
“I was just proud of being a Spur in that moment,” he said.
For the first time in the franchise’s storied history, the San Antonio Spurs are 5-0. Led by Wembanyama’s season-high 18 rebounds along with 27 points, six assists and five blocks, the Spurs beat the red-hot Miami Heat 107-101.
