Open Thread: Spurs promote Propositions A & B during San Antonio Neighbors Together
Last night many neighborhoods participated in San Antonio Neighbors Together. It was called Neighborhood Night Out a few years back and was recognized nationally.
My family hosted one such gathering at our home. I have served as president of the Shearer Hills Ridgeview Neighborhood Association a couple of times. These events bring people together. It’s a casual way to meet the people on your block and who you pass by every day at the grocery store and on the road.
Typically, local representatives visit their constituent’s various meetups. From city council to state representatives to local law enforcement, we’ve even had the fire department bring a truck down and let the kids climb around for a few minutes. They are always fun and a great way to socialize.
Volunteers representing the Spurs and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo also made the rounds to more than 40 Neighbors Together events across the community last night.
They spent the evening evening promoting Propositions A & B, which is on the upcoming ballot. At the Spurs scrimmage this past weekend, they also handed out informational brochures and stickers to help get the word out and clarify concerns local voters have toward the propositions.
These HOA and Neighborhood association gatherings lend themselves to folks who are politically active and locally aware.
There has been concern about how money is being gathered toward the funding of a new arena.
